John Rieger

John is a professional with over two decades experience in photography full time.  His weddings are a mixture between traditional and candids.  He specialized in photographing weddings, commercial work, and professional sporting events.  You will probably see him on the sidelines at many of your favorite college & professional events when he is not shooting weddings.  He photographed the All Star Game in St Louis for Us Presswire in 2010 and will be on the sidelines of the game in Kansas City in 2012.

John has the technical training of a Master studio photographer, but presents himself at events in a manner that is easy going and unobtrusive.  This allows him to capture emotions and moments through his photojournalism skills.

John's wedding work has been published in KC Weddings, the Knot, and PWG.  His photojournalism work has been featured in the Usa Today, Sports Illustrated, Maxim, ESPN the magazine, Chicago Tribume, Superbowl Program XLII.

John and Mike Freeland have worked together in the photography business since the early 1992.

Ryan Brown

We are happy to add another outstanding published photographer to our staff!  Ryan Brown has been a professional photographer for over a decade.  He started shooting with Freeland Photography in the fall of 2011.  Ryan Brown, Master Photographer Credit CPP, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Photography from Central Missouri State University. Ryan holds the certifications of Certified Professional Photographer, Certified Wedding Photographer and Certified Stock Photographer. Ryan's current degrees include the degree of Master of Photography and the degree of Photographic Craftsmen.

Ryan is a board member of the Missouri Professional Photographers Association, and past-president of the Professional Photographers Association of Greater Kansas City. Ryan is a member of the Professional Photographers of America and the prestigious American Society of Photographers. Recent awards include 2010 Heart of America Regional Master Photographer of the Year, 2010 Missouri Master Photographer of the Year, 2006-2011 International Photographer of the Year, 2011 International Electronic Imager of the Year, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 Golden Bellows Awards from the Professional Photographers Association of Greater Kansas City, Fuji Masterpiece and Kodak Gallery Awards,and in 2010 Ryan won the prestigious Canon Par Excellence award from Canon.

Ryan is a true artist behind the camera.  His photography was accepted into the Plaza Art Fair and the Westport Art Fair.

Travis' incredible photography skills and warm personality are a perfect fit for our studio. He joined our wedding division in 2007.  His work ethic and personality have taken Freeland Photography to the next level. (*Make sure to read Travis' attributes below).  But at the end of the day, his incredible images and real life moments that he captures are what defines our studio.

Travis's work has been published in KC Magazine, Theknot.com, The knot's Wedding Pages, and is currently on newstands in KC Weddings. 

Travis has a B.S. in Telecommunications MGMT from DeVry, and a M.B.A from Keller Graduate School of Management.  Travis enjoys being involved in soccer in Lee's Summit with his kids.  He has played, coached, officiated and helped with administration with many leagues.  He photographs on the sidelines of many soccer games including recently at the US Women's National soccer team at the new Livestrong Sporting Park.
He is a Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Grace United Methodist Church.  His group is responsible for the well being of the building and grounds.  If he is not busy enough, he also volunteers with Richardson Elementary PTA.

Tiffany Buckley
Published Photographer & Retoucher

Tiffany is a full time professional photographer.  She has worked with Freeland Photography since 2009.  She is our young gun photographer that is not only cutting edge, but the most consistantly amazing photojournalistic photographer in our business.  She has the accolades of having 10 weddings featured in magazines in the past 18 months.  Tiffany juggles photography, photoshop and modeling.  Her studio talents have allowed our business to expand into fashion and boudoir sessions.

Natasha and Maks Stepanov
Photographers

Maks and Natasha are a husband and wife team that work wedding days together.  They prefer to work together as a team rather than individually.  This combination produces an incredible vareity of images and coverage.  

Maks became interested in photography when his first camera was given to him on his 14th birthday.  Over the next few years his fascination behind the camera extended to the dark room where he would develop his own film and prints while living across the globe.  When he moved from Tashkent, Uzbekistan to the United Stated in 1997 he attended Community College in New York, working towards a major in Fine Arts.  Continuing  to photograph in film, Maks also worked as a commercial photographer's assistant where improved his lighting and technical skills.  In 2006 life brought Maks to Kansas City, Missouri. 

Natasha first met Maks in 2006.  She was so impressed with the way Maks captured personalities behind the camera that she decided to learn photography professionally. In 2007 Natasha took photography classes in Moscow under the famous Russian photographer, Sergey Gavrilov.  Under his tutelage she learned lighting techniques, posing approaches, composition, and strengthened her foundation of photography.

In 2008 Natasha married Maks. (dramatic story with a Russian backdrop...fascinating story, but too long to detail here.)  In 2009 Maks and Natasha began assisting and freelancing with the Freeland Photography team.  They are great artists behind the camera.  Their passion for photography can be utilized by working with a full time studio like Freeland Photography.

Allie McWillie
Photographer

Allison has worked with Freeland Photography since 2010.  Her natural creativity and camera expertise has allowed her to produce one of a kind stunning images for hundreds of clients.

Her work is a style she self describes as "lifestyle portraiture" (natural, in the moment, unposed). After specializing in maternity, newborn and family photography, her work was noticed by our studio in late 2009. Her demeanor and style turned out to be a perfect fit for wedding photography.  She has photographed events with us at the Midland Theatre, Intercontinental Hotel, President Hotel, Hawthorne House, Loch Loyd to name a few.  She focuses on innocent moments and candid expressions that capture the feeling of the day.

Besides photographing weddings with Freeland Photography, she devotes time her family and studio work. Allie is a perfect fit for the Freeland Photography team.

April McCoy is a full time employee of Freeland Photography. She assists and 2nd shooting at weddings, and is also our album manager. Her time spent working with Mike in the office gives her valuable experience every single day in the field of professional photography.

She has over 4 years experience shooting with a pro camera.  Her education in photography includes full time work at Freeland Photography, on the job training, online courses and the Kansas City Art Institute. 

April's desire is to be among the best in professional photography and aspires to be a published photographer in 2012.  Her outgoing personality and professional attitude is a perfect fit for our studio.
