Mike began his photography career in 1991 working at H&H Color Lab.  Working at the professional lab gave him the oppurtunity to build a rapport with many of the best photographers in the business at that time.  This allowed him to get his foot in the door and apprentice to gain decades of experience and knowledge in a few short years.

In 1997, Mike went full time with Freeland Photography.  Over the past decade his work has been featured in the the Knot, KC Weddings, KC Magazine, Perfect Wedding Guide, and the Kansas City Star.
He loves the photographic challenge of a changing environment--Perfect for on location weddings, events, and commercial assignments.

Mike enjoys spending as much time with his family as much as possible.  Being up on the Historic Independence Square has given him the opportunity to join the board of directors for the Independence Square Association. This can be a challenging task in an area that is being revitalized, but as a former graduate of Truman High School, his roots are in this home town, and he is trying hard to help it flourish. Here are some of Mike's Signature Images:

John is a true photojournalist.  He has nearly two decades experience photographing weddings, commercial work, and professional sporting events.  You will probably see him on the sidelines at many of your favorite college & professional events when he is not shooting weddings.  He recently photographed the All Star Game in St Louis for Us Presswire.

John has the technical training of a Master studio photographer, but presents himself at events in a manner that is easy going and unobtrusive.  This allows him to capture candid moments focusing on his photojournalism skills.

John's wedding work has been featured in KC Weddings, the Knot, and PWG.  His photojournalism work has been featured in the Usa Today, Sports Illustrated, Maxim, ESPN the magazine, Chicago Tribume, Superbowl Program XLII, and the Punxsutawney Spirit.
